Literary Unit

Auckland Theatre Company’s Literary Unit is dedicated to actively nurturing New Zealand playwrights and their work.

Since its inception, the ATC Literary Unit has developed such Auckland Theatre Company successes as Tom Scott’s THE DAYLIGHT ATHEIST, Michael Galvin’s THE OCEAN STAR, Geoff Chapple's HATCH OR THE PLIGHT OF THE PENGUINS and Victor Rodger's MY NAME IS GARY COOPER.

The ATC Literary Unit actively nurtures New Zealand playwrights and their work, seeking out the best and brightest new scripts and putting them in the hands of dedicated theatre professionals to test their mettle in rehearsed readings and semi-staged workshop productions.

The unit organises the increasingly popular monthly play-reading series and THE NEXT STAGE Festival. ATC Literay Unit thanks the ATC Patrons for their continued support.

For more information about ATC Literary Unit's activities, or to submit a script, email Philippa Campbell, Literary Manager or call (09) 309 0390 ext 71.

"The ATC Literary Unit does invaluable, necessary work which continues to foster and support New Zealand talent. After a not-inconsiderable amount of time being stuck in the darkness with my play My Name is Gary Cooper, the ATC workshop helped me see one of the most beautiful things a writer can ever hope to see: light at the end of the tunnel. Fa’afetai lava!"
Victor Rodger
