Jennifer Ludlam / Actor
Jennifer Ludlam joins us in AUGUST:OSAGE COUNTY from September 2 - 25 at The Maidment Theatre.
Jennifer graduated from Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School the year it was established (1970). She is one of New Zealand’s leading actors and has worked extensively on stage and television, both in New Zealand and Australia.
Her role in the film APRON STRINGS, which opened the 2008 New Zealand Film Festival, took her to the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, and won her the Best Actress Award in the 2009 Qantas Film Awards.
Jennifer’s last Auckland Theatre Company appearances were in Roger Hall’s TAKING OFF and in WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINA WOOLF? as Martha (for which she won a Chapmann Tripp Award for Best Actress).
Other memorable work includes Vita in VITA AND VIRGINIA, Winnie in HAPPY DAYS, Linda Loman in DEATH OF A SALESMAN and most recently Elizabeth Law in WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING (Silo Theatre). Other awards include Best Actress at the New Zealand Film and Television Awards for the television series COVER STORY (1996) and the same award three years earlier for the telemovie UNDER COVER.
In 2004, Jennifer was appointed a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for Services to the Arts.
