Alistair Browning / Actor
Alistair trained at Auckland University and Theatre Corporate and began his professional career at The Mercury Theatre in the mid-seventies. He has since performed in over 100 plays throughout New Zealand, as well as many in Australia and England. Favourites include A MIDUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, THE GRADUATE, OTHELLO, KING LEAR, HITCHCOCK BLONDE, AN UNSEASONABLE FALL OF SNOW, THE REAL THING, ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, ARCADIA, A DOLL’S HOUSE, SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL, ANGELS IN AMERICA, THREE SISTERS, THE SECRET RAPTURE, WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?, GREAT EXPECTATATIONS, WILD HONEY, MIDDLE AGE SPREAD, THE THREEPENNY OPERA and HAMLET. Directing credits include David Williamson’s MONEY AND FRIENDS and Terry Johnson’s HYSTERIA.
Alistair has worked in a dozen feature films, among them RAIN, FRACTURE, VERTICAL LIMIT and MERRY CHRISTMAS, MISTER LAWRENCE. For television, he appeared in NOT ONLY BUT ALWAYS, STREET LEGAL, SHORTLAND STREET, JACKSON’S WHARF, XENA, HERCULES, DUGGAN and THE SULLIVANS. Alistair has received six acting awards and one for directing. He has recently relocated back to Auckland and is very glad to be here!
