FREE extension workshop suitable for senior secondary
students attending THE GLASS MENAGERIE.
Expand your students' understanding and enjoyment of THE GLASS
MENAGERIE through this interactive workshop. A director/actor team
works with students to explore the features of Post-war American
Realism using scenes from the play.

expo, features stalls and workshops, discussions and demonstrations
at the ATC Rehearsal Studios in Dominion Road. Get some

TOI WHAKAARI - AUDITION WORKSHOP
Sunday 25 August
This very popular workshop was a huge hit last year. We
recommend you book early to get into this one!
Led by teaching staff from Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School,
this one-day workshop is designed to answer some of your questions,
and challenge your assumptions, about the audition process. You
will be given some practical tips to build your confidence, the
opportunity to present your work to the group and some insight into
what you might be able to expect in an audition.

In this practical, dynamic workshop you will be encouraged to
unpack the tasks involved with directing the school production.
Drawing on advice from professional directors and experienced
teachers, we cover everything from selecting plays, casting,
collaborating with designers and the nuts and bolts of the job;
from first read through to opening night.

THE SCHOOL PRODUCTION - TECHNICAL
With HEAD OF TECHNICAL OPERATIONS at THE EDGE
In this practical workshop the key technical requirements of
staging a production will be outlined. An overview of what is
required for lighting, sound and staging plus a practical Q&A
session with technical experts will allow you to ask questions
about your own production. This workshop will also outline the
basics of managing the key tasks and roles - and will provide
templates for budgeting and developing timelines to ensure
everything is ready for opening night. The day will also feature a
backstage tour of THE EDGE's theatres.

WRITING THE SCHOOL PRODUCTION
with ATC Literary
In this practical, dynamic two-day workshop you will explore the
challenges involved with writing the school production. Drawing on
advice from professional playwrights and teachers experienced in
writing for the school stage, we will discover useful processes and
approaches for creating exciting plays; from big cast spectacles to
classroom performances and everything in between. The workshop
culminates in a shared reading of work for an audience at the ATC
Studios.
Date: Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September
