Derek McCormack

Derek is the Vice Chancellor of the Auckland University of Technology and is currently the Chair of Universities New Zealand. He began his career teaching biochemistry and went on to become President of the NZ Association for Staff in Tertiary Education, in 1986 - a role he held until 1990. That period was one of extensive reform of the tertiary education system and during it he served on numerous governmental and ministerial committees, working groups and boards. He was appointed Vice Chancellor of AUT in 2004.
