Eden is one of New Zealand’s most respected and prolific composers and producers for theatre, film and contemporary dance. Now based out of Queensland Australia.
In his music, as in life, anything goes. Sadness can be uplifting, desire be as impassive as a rock and memories be as suddenly vivid as the monitor lizards he occasionally sees on his runs up the hill behind his house. If all this sounds poetic then the cap fits. Even his take on composition involves unexpected arrivals and departures, conventional and operatic voices, ripped apart rhythms and ethereal bridges, solidly resounding hooks and moody ascents.
His recent credits for ATC invlude AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, STEPPING OUT, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER, THE THIRTYNINE STEPS, THE PILLOWMAN and WHERE WE ONCE BELONGED.
Eden has written for Raewyn Hill - Dance North, Co3, Malia Johnston – Rifleman Productions, Movement of the Human, Michael Parmenter, Maria Dabrowska, Craig Bary, Ross McCormack, Sarah Foster, NZ Dance Company, Okareka Dance Company, Atamira Dance Company, Touch Compass, Footnote Dance Company, Oneill.
Eden was the winner of 2009 & 2010 Best Music at the Tempo Dance Festival and nominated for a Qantas Media award for Best Music for a TV series for his work on World Kitchen TV series, which is played in over 50 countries. His commercial work has been commissioned internationally for companies like Zoomslide Media, Radiation, 42 Below, MTV, C4 TV, TV3 and licensed to MGM, CBS, Hamish & Andy, Home & Away - to name a few.
Mulholland was born in Christchurch NZ and originally trained as a Contemporary and Ballet dancer. This background has allowed Eden to approach composition with a strong visual and kinesthetic understanding. He has danced for Black Grace, Ann Dewey, Michael Parmenter, Sean Curham, Malia Johnston and Touch Compass.
Eden is no stranger to touring and his live performances are equal to the task of delivering the epic yet intimate qualities of his songs. A gifted multi-instrumentalist, digital artist and vocals freedom fighter, he is known for his generous and uninhibited delivery, whether performing solo or with his bands. And he carries these student of life qualities into the studio where that preparedness to let rip and let go, and be open to new perspectives on his songs, stand his recording collaborations in good stead.
Eden has also produced nearly a dozen music videos since 2008. Jack of all trades and utterly compelled to do it, Mulholland can’t sit still for long, and doesn’t.
