Ian Mune


Ian Mune began his professional acting career as a founding member of Downstage Theatre in Wellington in 1964, spent two years with the Welsh Theatre Company and then became a member of the Mercury Theatre Company, where he also taught and directed. After co-writing (with Arthur Baysting) and acting in New Zealand movie Sleeping Dogs, he focused on acting, writing and directing for film and TV before returning to the stage to play King Lear in 1996 and Big Daddy in Colin McColl’s Downstage Theatre production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Ian directed Once on Chunuk Bair for Auckland Theatre Company in 2014. He is enjoying returning to the stage and working with Colin again for ATC.
