Lucy Jane Senior is a fashion stylist by day and, on special occasions, is considered for the task of designing costumes for theatre productions, including Other Desert Cities, Polo, Boys Will Be Boys and A Streetcar Named Desire.
“I am lucky enough to join the design team for a contemporary play where shopping from the current market is more suitable than is the construction of costumes.”
Her inspiration for the wardrobe in the MiNDFOOD season of Six Degrees of Separation came from the fascinating state-of-the-art market in the late ‘80s and into the ‘90s and some of its iconic players. Lucy Jane lived in New York City during this time and can sympathise with Ouisa and Paul. The moral of the tale was reflected by how easily people were, at the time, lured by the seduction of old money/Europe/pedigree.
“I think this is something that has certainly changed.”
