Mythmakers Touring Theatre. @styleClass>
A specially produced theatre programme, MYTHMAKERS, comprises of works bringing the legends of Aotearoa, the Pacific, and the world to life in a celebration of the power of storytelling. Toured to Auckland primary and intermediate schools, Auckland Theatre Company will present a minimum of 20 discounted performances in this programme each year, attended by 8,000 students from across the Auckland region. ATC Literary. @styleClass>
Auckland Theatre Company actively nurtures New Zealand playwrights and their work. The Company seeks out the best and brightest new scripts and puts them in the hands of dedicated theatre professionals to test in rehearsed readings and semi-staged workshop productions. Currently the ATC Literary Unit is the only dedicated literary theatre programme in New Zealand and has helped develop works such as the adaptation of Henrick Ibsen’s A DOLL’S HOUSE by New Zealand novelist Emily Perkins, PANIORA! by leading Māori playwright Briar Grace Smith and the upcoming PEER GYNT [RECYCLED] by Eli Kent, from their initial scripts into subscription season shows.
ASB Waterfront Theatre Public Open Day. @styleClass>
This annual free event opens the doors of Auckland Theatre Company’s Wynyard Quarter base to the local community to experience this new facility first hand. The inaugural Open Day in September 2016 featured guided tours, musical performances, face painting, storytelling, arts and crafts and more, involved around 100 volunteer performers and crew, and attracted a record 3,000 attendees.
School Matinee Programme. @styleClass>
Auckland Theatre Company runs a comprehensive school matinee programme that invites high school students to attend performances of appropriate subscription season shows at a heavily subsidised price. In 2017, the Company will present twelve school matinees with complimentary post show forums, to nearly 5,000 students from the Auckland region.
