School Matinée Programme
We bring students, teachers and artists together to share a love of theatre and storytelling. In 2026, over 10,000 students experienced a play at Auckland Theatre Company.
Our Creative Learning programme is designed to meet the four key Achievement Objectives outlined in the Arts Learning Area from the New Zealand Curriculum, specifically the subject Drama at Levels 5, 6, 7 and 8.
On behalf of the artists and everyone behind the scenes, we welcome you and your ākonga to a year of extraordinary experiences in 2027.
School Bookings
Kaiako can fill in the online booking form for our School Matinées and workshops.
The Numbers
Ākonga Tickets: $20
Kaiako Tickets: One kaiako free for every 15 ākonga. Additional adults $20. Teacher Aides are complimentary.
Ratios: There must be one adult for every 15 ākonga booked.
Equity Tickets: Complimentary tickets are available for members of the community who face social or financial barriers to attending theatre.
Travel Subsidies: Limited travel subsidies are available if costs are a barrier.
Equity Tickets and Travel Subsidies available thanks to ATC Patrons.
Workshops and Resources for Ākonga
Auckland Theatre Company is committed to supporting ākonga and kaiako to get the most out of the Creative Learning Programme offered in 2027.
Our Creative Learning programme is designed to meet the four key Achievement Objectives outlined in the Arts Learning Area from the New Zealand Curriculum, specifically the subject Drama at Levels 5, 6, 7 and 8.
In 2027, every school group booking for a production within the Creative Learning programme includes a free recording of the production and an education pack with curriculum linked resources.
Resources and workshops enrich learning across a range of topics, such as exploring drama components, theatre form, creating drama from scratch and how live theatre makes us think, feel and act.

Education Pack Archive
Auckland Theatre Company’s Education Pack Archive is home to curriculum-linked resources from our past productions, including behind-the-scenes content, interviews with creatives, design activities and teaching notes.
These packs are designed to support kaiako in exploring theatre with their ākonga across all levels – from Drama and English to Social Studies, History, Te Reo Māori and more. All resources are free to use in your classroom.
