Sidley Park. 1809. Septimus Hodge, handsome contemporary of Lord Byron, is tutor to child-genius Thomasina Coverly, while fending off the advances of her mother, the amorous Lady Croom, and dueling the cuckolded minor poet Ezra Chater. Nearly two centuries later, rival academics Hannah Jarvis and Bernard Nightingale descend on the modern-day occupants of Sidley Park to unravel the events of 1809 - with spectacularly wrong results.
